FUSION COURSE CLASS

Improvisation | Choreography | Modern Dance Course Class

In this comprehensive year-long training course, dancers can develop their artistry as choreographers and performers.

Through Improvisation, dancers will explore the elements of dance, experiment with guided exercises individually and with others, and hone their artistry through creative choice-making.

The class will then experience a Modern dance unit, drawing on the canon of Modern dance, such as Graham, Limon, and Horton techniques, along with influences of Flying Low. Emphasis will be placed on spine articulation, relationship with the floor, and continuing to explore improvisation as a principle of Modern dance.

The class will culminate with Choreography. Through choreographic exercises, dancers will learn the principles of choreographic design and structure and develop their artistic voice. With informal in-class showings, dancers will hone their skills as dance critics, giving and receiving feedback based on specific criteria.*
