Kayla White is a current student at The University of Texas at Austin studying to receive a BFA in Dance as well as a minor in Arts Management and Administration. Originally from a suburb of Dallas, Kayla grew up dancing and performing at a local studio as well as touring nationally as an assistant with Dupree Dance. At the university, she has had the opportunity to perform in works by Jenn Freeman, Charles O. Anderson, Courtney Mazeika, Gregory Dolbashian, Kirven Douthit-Boyd, and Rena Butler among others. She has received additional technical and performative training at The San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Gibney Dance, and BodyTraffic. Her choreography has been presented at Revolve: A Movement display (2018, 2019), Dance Repertory Theatre’s Evolution (2019), and Wanderlust Dance Project (2019). Her unique aesthetic capitalizes on a sensitivity to softness and an exploration of voice through movement. In the classroom, Kayla believes in facilitating a space for exploration and expression that fosters small moments of courage.
