Brooke McCarthy was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She started dance at an early age at DeFrances Academy of Dance. At Defrances, she studied all genres of dance and competed with their company all over the U.S. throughout her childhood. When Brooke was 18, she found the start of her teaching career at her childhood studio. Brooke attended Southeastern Louisiana University where she received her Bachelor’s in Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. With her degree she has experience working with children and their speech disorders, as well as children with Autism. During her college career, she was a member of the nationally ranked Lionette dance team and was a staff member of Universal Dance Association. While a staff member, she taught and judged all over the U.S. for high school and college dance teams. Brooke moved to Houston in 2010 and taught preschool aged children the art of creative movement and dance. In 2012 she found her home in Austin teaching at Alisa’s Dance Academy. She is the assistant director and artistic director of the newest company at ADA, Momentum Dance Company. Brooke enjoys encouraging and helping young dancers reach their artistic and performance goals.
