Laura Ground

ADA Instructor

Laura Ground was born and raised in San Marcos, TX. She began training in Ballet at the age of 8 and later found her love for other styles, including Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, and Hip Hop. After moving to Austin, TX to advance her training, she started to focus on competitions and joined the competitive team at Alisa’s Dance Academy. She had the opportunity to travel around the state competing and was awarded many scholarships to also travel to New York and Los Angeles to continue training with some of the most influential teachers and choreographers in the industry. At 17, Laura started performing with Austin based companies such as Reverence Dance Project, Verge Dance Company, and Third Coast Contemporary. However, as much as she loves the stage, Laura's true passion is in the studio. She's had a desire to educate and choreograph from the beginning of her dance journey. After choreographing for competitive teams, high school dance programs, and local fashion shows, commercials, and films in Austin, Laura decided to take her training further and move to Los Angeles. She stayed there two years dancing, working, and training at the renowned Debbie Reynolds studio in their Scholarship Program. She then moved back to Austin to focus on her choreography and educating the artists in the Austin area. When offered an opportunity to move to Homer, Alaska, she couldn’t refuse a new adventure. She stayed on as studio director for Harbor School of Music and Dance in Homer, AK for 6 years. While she loved what she was able to build there, furthering her education has brought her back home to Texas.
Her goal as a teacher is to encourage her students to break outside the box, and find their own unique voice.
